Orla Kiely Charity Bag for Tesco

Back in December I had posted about the Orla Kiely shopping bags sold in aid of Clic Sargent at Tesco stores. Well I finally managed to get my hands on not one but two of the designs. My friend Mel who lives in Somerset managed to get them in her local Tesco, for some reason I could never find them up this way. As far I know these are the designs that have been released so far.

New Orla Kiely EVOKE Mio Radio

Regular readers will realise I have a mild obsession with all things Orla Kiely. I am in the process of trying to stop myself buying everything I see in her prints but today I spotted her new EVOKE Mio Radio and my best laid plans were dashed to pieces. Isn't it just beautiful! I had previously posted about the Multi colourway here but since they introduced this blue version I'm smitten.

New Products at Papermash

Papermash, one of my favourite online stationery retailers, has had some new additions. I realise it's a bit sad but I absolutely love this heart hole punch, it not only makes your filing look pretty it also creates heart confetti, I love products with a dual purpose. Their new selection of tapes are also wonderful with anything from Squirrels in trees, the Alphabet or Manhattan Subway Maps on. The Party Banners are also pretty cool, great for a grown up party. I'm off to Paris in a couple of weeks to celebrate my third wedding anniversary, and instead of buying the usual mundane postcards while I'm out there, I'm very tempted to send these great Paris Polaroid Postcards. Trés Chic!

Orla on Everything! continued...

I received the March issue of Elle Decoration yesterday and after my blog a a couple of days ago about Orla kiely products I saw this advert for the new Citroen DS3. It includes designs by Orla Kiely in everything from the signature patterns on the leather interior to the roof panel. There a 4 options in the range "Green Acorn, Spot Stem, Multi Acorn and Multi Stem all featuring Orla's signature prints and colours.

Orla on Everything!

As you can probably tell from most of my posts I am a huge lover of anything retro especially Orla Kiely prints. I recently received in the March issue of Living etc a small leaflet for Heal's, and what should be featured on the back, none other than Orla. I never realised her prints had been put on so many products. I particularly love the Jackie O style sunglasses, although I can't warrant spending that much on them as I'd probably just end up sitting on them!

Orla Kiely Charity Bag for Tesco

I was reading one of my favourite blogs and came across this shopping bag that has been designed by Orla Kiely to raise money for Clic Sargent. It is being sold exclusively at Tesco this December and retails at £4, with fifty pence from every sale being equally divided between Clic Sargent and Orla's personal charity, The Royal College of Art, which funds bursaries for textile students.

Around 10 families a day are told that their child has cancer and treatment can last for up to three years.  Julie Worrall, Tesco Campaign Manager at CLIC Sargent, said: “As Tesco Charity of the Year we aim to raise £5 million to help children with cancer spend more time at home and less time in hospital.  The money we receive when customers buy Orla’s bags will help to fund CLIC Sargent nurses who coordinate children’s care at home so they can live as normal a life as possible.” (Quote from Clic Sargent)

So if you would like to support two very worthy charities and also get yourself a very stylish shopping bag, head down to Tesco's now because I doubt they will be around for long!

Orla Kiely Radio

This new Evoke Mio radio designed by Orla Kiely would look fantastic in any kitchen. It features Orla's signature stem print, a mirrored chromed handle, walnut veneered cabinet, cream fascia and a stylish leather tag. The radio itself has Digital and FM radio, an iPod/MP£ input, Intellitext and textSCAN, an auto-dimming OLED display, an alarm, a kitchen timer (oooh good idea!) and a USB connector. It is available from early November exclusively from John Lewis. My Christmas list is expanding as I type this, oh well my 30th is coming up soon so I better start a list for that too!

Orla Kiely House

As you can probably tell from my recent blogs I have a love for all things Orla Kiely so I was very excited about her recently launched new range of kitchenware. It includes storage jars, tea pots, sugar bowls and serving dishes. The colours are very autumnal, why not mix and match them to retain that vintage look and make sure they are not hidden away in a cupboard, these pieces were designed to be displayed with pride.

This wonderful new range is available from Heals and soon Bliss home. Since I have already started collecting the mugs I might as well go the whole hog and start collecting these too, much to my husband's dismay!

Orla Keily

High up on my wishlist at the moment is Orla Kiely's book on Pattern, which gives readers an insight into her creative process. As a lover of all things Orla is would make a great addition to my design book collection, and a great source of inspiration.

Another book I find really useful for inspiration is the Print Pattern book, released earlier this year it is the creation of Bowie Style the author of the Print Pattern Blog. As a graphic designer herself she has created a blog that covers all aspects of pattern design, from wallpaper, cards, textiles, and ceramics. I can't enthuse enough about how useful this site is for sparking off ideas. She is apparently in the process of creating a second book, that will definitely have to go on my Christmas list.
