Decorate Book Tour - Anthropologie Kings Road

Images from Decor8

Holly Becker of Decor8 fame is in London for Design Week, where she is holding a book signing of her bestselling book Decorate and talk about moodboard how-to. She will be joined by designer Abigail Ahern and stylist/photographer Leslie Shewring at Anthropologie on Kings Road on Sunday 25th September. It starts at 1pm and you need to RSVP: rsvp@anthropologie.com if you would like to attend.
I bought this book a few weeks back and it is by far the best interiors book I've got. It's simply laid out with fantastic photos, floor plans, colour ideas and gives you suggestions on how to decorate on a room by room basis, it really gets the creative juices going. So if you happen to be in London on Sunday, get yourself down there to meet some great creative peeps.

Decorate, it's here!

Images from Decor8 and Amazon

I have previously blogged about a fantastic book Decorate created by Holly Becker of Decor8 fame. It's an inspirational book crammed full of ideas for the home, and thankfully unlike other books it makes sense of a world that often scares people, by looking at your home creatively.

Well I have finally got my own copy and it is a truly beautiful book, with hundreds of interior images. I think I would like to use every idea somewhere in my new house. That's probably not possible but I might give it a damn good try!

The book explains about planning your space, use of colour and decorative pieces and even how to make statements of your favourite pieces of furniture or architectural features you have in your home. I can't wait to get started on using it.

So if you fancy an interiors book with a difference check it out.

Paper + Craft

The Paper + Craft book has been created by married creative team Minhee & Truman Cho. I found a link to their website Paper Cup Design through one of my favourite blogs Decor8. They produce wonderful stationery, journals and personalised invitations from their New York based studio, check out their blog. This fantastic book contains 25 DIY projects with paper including how to make giant flowers, cone wreaths, keepsake boxes and many more things to keep idle hands occupied. Personally I love little projects like these, it's always good to have something to do on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Decorate

One of my favourite blogs is Decor8, founder and editor Holly Becker is an American freelance journalist and design consultant who lives in northern Germany. She launched the blog in 2006 which has become an invaluable source of inspiration to over 35,000 readers daily. She has just published a book called 'Decorate: 1000 Professional Design Ideas for Every Room in the House' in the US and it is to be released in the UK on the 25th March. Apparently it's full of creative and quirky advice from the world's best designers including Jonathan Adler, Kelly Hoppen, Amy Butler and Abigail Ahern. Can't wait until it's launched, this will definitely be going on my reading list.

Orla Keily

High up on my wishlist at the moment is Orla Kiely's book on Pattern, which gives readers an insight into her creative process. As a lover of all things Orla is would make a great addition to my design book collection, and a great source of inspiration.

Another book I find really useful for inspiration is the Print Pattern book, released earlier this year it is the creation of Bowie Style the author of the Print Pattern Blog. As a graphic designer herself she has created a blog that covers all aspects of pattern design, from wallpaper, cards, textiles, and ceramics. I can't enthuse enough about how useful this site is for sparking off ideas. She is apparently in the process of creating a second book, that will definitely have to go on my Christmas list.
